Your Intake Meeting

The majority of families are not aware that if a person with special needs is left more than $2,000, he or she will automatically lose eligibility for most government benefits.  Those benefits can include Medicaid, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), housing, food stamps and other benefits which could be extremely important to a person with special needs.

For those who are aware of that rule, they simply aren’t sure how to plan around it.  We see families disinheriting their children with special needs and leaving the assets (and the moral obligation to handle those assets properly) to other siblings instead.  On the outside, that sounds like a viable option.  However, when you consider those assets could be lost to divorce, creditors, lawsuits and the like, we quickly realize this strategy isn’t always the best.

As an advocate, myself, I provide families with resources and planning tools to provide not just lifetime care, but a quality of life to their children.  Keeping their children with special needs included in their estates properly – without the fear of losing their important benefits.  I work with parents to determine what they would like to see for their children after they’re gone.  And if they’re their current financial structure is not currently supporting their wishes, I assist them through the necessary steps to accomplish their goals.

I’d be pleased to meet with you for a confidential intake meeting to discuss your particular family’s planning needs, and how I may be of assistance by helping you achieve what is most important to you as a parent.  Most importantly, the strategies that provide the best future opportunities for your son or daughter will always be kept as the cornerstone of our planning together.

Assisting you in navigating the maze of government benefits, creating an estate for your son or daughter if it doesn’t already exist, and planning for a lifetime of quality care are just a few of the issues that we’ll address in your confidential intake meeting.  By the way, as advocates for families, MetDESK® Specialists do not charge any fees for any intake meetings or follow-up consultations to assist families with this essential planning.

I look forward to hearing from you and becoming a valuable resource to your family.

Best regards,

Steven B. Schwartz, CFS, CLTC, MetDESK® Specialist
